The Modern Bodhisattva

This series explores the dichotomy between the immense potential of humanity and the struggles of the modern individual.

In Hindu and Buddhist iconography, the number of arms of a being represents power and accomplishments. Often deities are depicted brandishing multiple weapons, or simultaneously playing different musical instruments with their many arms. Following this motif, the modern bodhisattva also espouses many arms representing potential, but the arms are on longer used to their full potential, instead becoming unintentionally (and often intentionally) self-defeating.
